Dr. Amanda Hampton grew up in a rural town 2 hours west of Chicago. She began her veterinary career as a kennel assistant in her hometown veterinary clinic and has always been interested in caring for animals. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology while competing on the swimming team at Western Illinois University. She then earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois, where she served as Class President.
After graduation, she began working at an extensive nationwide practice where she held several different roles. Most recently, she practiced in Evergreen Park, and during her tenure as Chief of Staff, the hospital was awarded the Chicagoland Veterinary Quality Team of the Year.
She co-leads the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and is passionate about helping young students explore careers in the veterinary profession. She has previously served on the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors and the Illinois Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors. She received the Dr. Erwin Small First Decade Award in 2022 for volunteering in the profession.
Dr. Hampton maintains special interests in teaching about wellness care and building connections between the team, pet owners, and patients. She looks forward to serving the Homewood community!
